KMB and Long Win Bus Offer Free Rides for the Elderly on Senior Citizen's Day

KMB and LWB have supported the “Senior Citizen's Day” event organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for years. To show their support, KMB and LWB will offer free rides on all its bus routes (including airport routes) for all people aged 65 and over on Sunday 17 November 2019. To enjoy free rides, eligible elderly passengers holding a Senior Citizen Card, Hong Kong Identity Card or travel documents, only show their card when boarding the bus, while those holding an Elder Octopus just tap their card or documents when boarding. The amount deducted for such Octopus card transactions will be set at $0 on that day.

KMB and LWB hope elderly passengers can make good use of the free bus rides on Senior Citizens Day and enjoy a happy Sunday with safe and comfortable bus journeys with their family. Providing elderly passengers with safe bus journeys has always been KMB and LWB’s priority. KMB was presented with the Age-Friendly Gold Star Award for their commitment to and outstanding performance in upgrading its age-friendly facilities.

Besides being equipped with super-low floor, ramp, non-slip handrails, non-slip flooring and wheelchair space, buses designed with parking space for two wheelchairs are assigned on routes operating via hospitals. Seats for the elderly are also being introduced at bus stops.

A number of events have been organised to boost elderly passengers’ awareness of road safety. We remind elderly passengers to observe safety rules on buses and hold the handrails when travelling on buses. In addition, they are encouraged to make use of the priority seats and leave their seat only when the bus has come to a stop.

Passengers may call the KMB Customer Service Hotline on 2745-4466, LWB Customer Service Hotline on 2261-2791 or LiveChat with us on App1933, KMB website and LWB website for more details.
