KMB and LWB Adopts Multiple Enhancement Measures to Step Up Protection for Passengers and Staff Members

In respect of the Government’s decision to raise the Preparedness and Response Plan to Emergency Response Level, KMB and LWB have adopted a series of measures to step up compartment cleaning and promotion of public health to enhance protection of passengers and staff members.

KMB and LWB have enhanced the cleaning of the compartment and the air-conditioning system. The frequency of cleaning the filter has been increased from one time per month to two to four times per month, depending on the type of air-conditioning system. We have also stepped up the cleaning procedures with bleach and antiseptic solution. Announcements are made on the bus broadcasting system and “Step Up Cleaning Fight against the Coronavirus” is shown on the LED route display screen to remind passengers to maintain personal hygiene.

To provide further protection to frontline staff members, KMB and LWB have requested all bus captains to wear masks when they are driving buses with passengers on board to reduce the risk of infection.

According to their needs, passengers can ask KMB and LWB staff members to take a mask for self-use at the following five bus termini, while stocks last:

- the airport
- the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge
- Jordan (West Kowloon Station)
- Lok Ma Chau Station
- Hung Hom Station

Alcohol-based hand-rub dispensers have also been installed at the line-up lanes of bus-bus interchanges and termini for passengers and staff members.

KMB and LWB have provided non-contact infrared thermometers at depots and five termini close to control points to enable staff to detect body temperatures if wished. We remind staff members to maintain personal hygiene. If staff members have respiratory symptoms, they should wear a mask and seek medical attention immediately.

We ask passengers to pay attention to personal hygiene. To prevent the spread of germs, passengers should cover their noses and mouths with a tissue when sneezing or coughing. They should also keep their hands clean with alcohol-based hand-rub.

Passengers may call the Customer Service Hotlines on 2745-4466 or 2261-2791, or LiveChat with us on App1933 or the KMB and LWB websites for more details.
