KMB donated a bus stop pole to TWGHs Jockey Club Blissful Villa

To support building up a friendly community for the elderly, The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (“KMB”) donated a “bus stop pole” to TWGHs Jockey Club Blissful Villa (“Blissful Villa”) last week. The tailor-made bus stop pole and seats, which match the elderly home’s service theme “Art House”, help the elderly with dementia more easily identify the locations of the rooms and reduce wandering problems.

Themed corridors to help the elderly identify the location of the rooms

Patients who have dementia are more likely to lose their ways. Blissful Villa, located in Wong Chuk Hang, has refurnished its corridors with the theme of four main streets, which help the elderly with dementia find their way to rooms. To increase the sense of belongings, Blissful Villa discussed with the elderly and decided to use “Nathan Road” as one of the corridor themes. Most of the elderly said that there were many bus routes at Jordan Road Ferry Bus Terminus in the past, and they could view the scenery of the typhoon shelter from the windows of Blissful Villa, which created dock alike feeling.

KMB understands the needs of the elderly and tailor-made a bus stop pole for Blissful Villa, namely “Blissful Villa.” Routes comprise 3, 11A, 15B, 60X and 110. KMB specially made the route information sheet by adding “Blissful Villa Bus Stop” to enhance the reality. Although Route 3 travelled between Diamond Hill Station and Jordan Road Ferry Bus Terminus had been closed for many years, the historical bus routes can bring collective memories to the elderly.

KMB also donated a set of two-seater bus seats to Blissful Villa, with the bus stop pole and its decorations, allowing the elderly to reminisce the time of Nathan Road at the “bus stop.” At the same time, it can help the elderly to identify the location of the rooms.

TWGHs Jockey Club Blissful Villa sincerely thanked KMB for its donation. “Occupational therapists and staff from Blissful Villa can wait for the bus with the elderly. They understand the elderly’s situation through chatting and will arrange appropriate treatment and training. Also, the elderly participated in the design of the corridors, such as painting street signs, making car silhouettes, which has implemented the service theme of Art House.”
