KMB Launches New Routes 33B and 78 to improve the bus networks of Tsuen Wan-Kowloon East and the Northern District

To improve the bus networks of Tsuen Wan-Kowloon East and the Northern District, KMB will launch brand new Routes 33B (Tsuen Wan West ⇌ Yau Tong) and 78 [Sha Tau Kok → Fanling Station(Fung Ying Seen Koon)] and enhance the services of Routes 33 (Tsuen Wan West ⇌ Yau Tong), 40P [Tsuen Wan (Nina Tower) ⇌ Kwun Tong Ferry] and 234D (Tsing Lung Tau ⇌ Kwun Tong Station). Details are as follow:

New Route 33B will launch from 16 October 2021 (Saturday)

The new Route 33B (Tsuen Wan West ⇌ Yau Tong), as a “holiday version” of Route 33, will be put into service on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. After the opening of Route 33B, there will be routes connecting Tsuen Wan and East Kowloon from Mondays to Sundays. Most of the path arrangements of Route 33B are the same as Route 33 except the route after the Shatin Pass Road. Route 33B will then re-route to Kwun Tong Road and pull off at the bus stops of Kowloon Bay, Ngau Tau Kok, Kwun Tong Town Centre and Lam Tin.

New Route 78 will launch with enhanced services of Routes 33, 40P and 234D from 18 October 2021 (Monday)

The new Route 78 [Sha Tau Kok → Fanling Station(Fung Ying Seen Koon)], as the first bus route travelling through Lung Shan Tunnel, will depart from Sha Tau Kok on Mondays to Fridays (except public holidays) at 7:20 a.m. After passing by Tam Shui Hang, Ma Tseuk Leng and Loi Tung, Route 78 will travel to Wah Ming Bus Terminus and Fanling Station (Fung Ying Seen Koon) directly via Lung Shan Tunnel. Passengers can interchange to other KMB routes to other districts at the last two bus stops conveniently. The trip from Loi Tung to Fanling Station (Fung Ying Seen Koon) takes 15 minutes* only, bringing passengers a fast and convenient service with a full fare of $8. 

*Actual journey time depends on the traffic condition

Route 33 (Tsuen Wan West ⇌ Yau Tong) operates on Mondays to Fridays (except public holidays). The service hours will extend to 11:00 p.m. The full fare remains unchanged at $10.2.

Route 40P [Tsuen Wan (Nina Tower) ⇌ Kwun Tong Ferry] will be enhanced to a whole-day-service (Mondays – Sundays). At the same time, the servicing area will also extend from Shek Wai Kok to Nina Tower, Tsuen Wan with the same full fare at $9.2. By using the powerful KMB interchange network, passengers can interchange over 30 bus routes to travel to Sau Mau Ping, Tseung Kwan O and Yau Tong with interchange discounts. The interchange network provides fast and convenient transport to Tsuen Wan East residents to travel to Kowloon East.

KMB will increase the number of trips to Route 234D (Tsing Lung Tau ⇌ Kwun Tong Station). The full fare remains unchanged at $11.4.
