立法會交通事務委員會參觀九巴九龍灣車廠 (Chinese only)

Members of the Legislative Council Panel of Transport and other Legislative Councillors visited the Kowloon Bay Depot of The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (“KMB”) today (10 June). KMB Senior Management team introduced the daily operation in KMB, its new-generation single-deck electric bus and a roadmap for upgrading the entire fleet to new energy buses.

The Hon Frankie Yick Chi-ming, SBS, JP, Chairman of the Panel of Transport, the Hon Chan Siu-hung, JP, Deputy Chairman of the Panel, along with other Legislative Council members and Government Officials from the Transport and Housing Bureau and the Transport Department, visited KMB Kowloon Bay Depot this morning. They were welcomed by KMB Senior Management team comprising Managing Director Mr Roger Lee, Operations Director Mr Andrew Kwan and Safety Director Ms Rachel Kwan.

They learned about features and the advanced battery management system of KMB’s new-generation BYD B12A 12M single-deck electric bus that is painted in “Electric Green” colour, and travelled on the electric bus to experience the benefits of zero-emission and serenity of it. They also visited various facilities in the depot, including DC charging devices for electric buses, equipment for support services and maintenance, staff facilities and some of the latest models of our buses to know more about KMB’s daily operation.

KMB also introduced to the Councillors its roadmap for upgrading the entire fleet to new energy buses. There will be 82 electric buses to be put in service by 2023, with 500 electric buses deployed in 2025, accounting for one-eighth of KMB’s fleet. The company is also ready to stop procuring diesel buses and move forward to fully upgrade its entire fleet to new energy buses by 2050.

Other than new energy buses, KMB has also adopted a number of innovative eco-friendly initiatives, such as installing solar panels on bus roofs and energy-saving wind curtains in the bus compartments to promote the development of green transport in Hong Kong.
