KMB enhances the service of Route 5D providing express service travelling between To Kwa Wan and Kai Tak via Shing Kai Road
From 21 August 2021 (Sunday), KMB will enhance the bus service of Route 5D (Telford Gardens — Hung Hom [Circular]). After passing through Kai Tak, the route will divert to Shing Kai Road instead of passing through Prince Edward Road East and Ma Tau Chung Road, which have a high traffic flow. Travelling between To Kwa Wan and Kai Tak takes about five minutes. The service hours will also be extended, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. The full fare of $6.2 will remain unchanged.

After departing from Telford Gardens, Route 5D will follow its original routeing to Kowloon Bay Sports Ground, Kai Yip, Richland Gardens, Kai Tak Kai Ching Estate, Tak Long Estate, and then will divert via Shing Kai Road to To Kwa Wan. When returning from Hung Hom to Telford Garden, it will also divert via Shing Kai Road to Kai Tak. Since it does not observe Prince Edward Road East and Ma Tau Chung Road, which have a heavy traffic flow, the newly-diverted route between To Kwa Wan and Kai Tak will be more direct and smoother . The journey time will be significantly shortened to about five minutes, providing an express bus service and a smootherpassenger journey.
In response to the adjustment of Route 5D, various bus stops will be changed accordingly. Details are as follows:

Extension of morning and evening service hours to facilitate passengers’ commuting
Besides route diversions, the first departure time of Route 5D will also be advanced to 6:00 a.m., and the service hours will be extended to 10:00 p.m. to facilitate passengers’ commuting.
