Electric buses deployed to Route 213M providing eco-friendly services to Anderson Road Development Area

 Starting from 24 September, KMB’s new-generation electric single-deckers will be deployed to Route 213M [On Tai - Lam Tin Station (Circular)], travelling around the Anderson Road Development Area. On 24 September, KMB prepared gifts and boarding certificates with unique numbering for passengers. Hundreds of passengers thronged to On Tai Bus Terminus to witness the electric bus’s new deployment and to experience the benefits of zero-emission and its serenity.

Ngan Man Yu, Legislative Council Member, and Hsu Yau Wai and Lam Wai, Kwun Tong District Councillors came to try the first electric bus departure of Route 213M. Ngan said that the electric buses, to be deployed to busy corridors and new residential areas, help tackle the environmental pollution problem and bring a quality living environment to citizens. He believed that collaboration between the Government and stakeholders was necessary to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050, and KMB’s effort to developg electric bus services benefited this great goal. Ngai urged the Government and transportation sector should join hands to develop a green transportation system.

Douglas Mak, KMB Assistant Operations Director (Division 1) (Acting), said that KMB had been serving residents of the Anderson Road Development Area since 2016, with the number of bus routes added up to 13 now, together with the enhancement of bus network and bus interchange scheme, KMB connected residents of Anderson Road Development Area to different areas in Hong Kong. Mak emphasised that the electric buses to be deployed to Route 213M, allowed residents to enjoy a quiet travel experience. “KMB values the needs of passengers and committed to continually working with the Transport Department in order to serve the residents of Anderson District."

After Routes 1, 1A, 6, 11D, 14B and 203C, Route 213M [On Tai - Lam Tin Station (Circular)] is the 7th route to be deployed with the electric bus since April. It marks the further expansion of KMB’s new electric bus services.

To encourage passengers to embrace green transportation, KMB presented a gift to passengers who had ridden on an electric bus on Route 213M on 24 September. The gift is a set of exquisitely-designed electric bus pins and a unique numbering boarding certificate. It has attracted hundreds of passengers riding on the electric bus of Route 213M, getting to know the beauty of green transportation.
