KMB and LWB offer free rides to elderlies aged 65 or above on Senior Citizen’s Day
On 20 November 2022 (Sunday), KMB and LWB will support the annual Senior Citizen’s Day organised by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service by offering free rides to eligible elderly, except for Routes P960 and P968.
To enjoy free rides, people aged 65 or above have to show their Senior Citizen Card, Hong Kong Identity Card or travel documents, or tap their Elder Octopus card or JoyYou Card for fare payment when boarding on any KMB or LWB bus routes. The amount deducted for such Octopus transactions will be set at $0 on that day. Passengers aged between 60 and 64 can continue enjoying the $2 concession scheme using JoyYou Card.
KMB and LWB are committed to building an elderly-friendly community. We have launched the Finding Missing Elderly programme by making use of the signalling system on our fleets and the elder’s Octopus Card number to help find the missing elderly, especially those suffering from dementia. There is also a "Finding Missing Elderly" hotline to the current KMB Customer Service Hotline so that relatives of missing elderly can contact KMB as soon as possible. Tracing notices will also be posted on App1933. Furthermore, we have donated ”Caring Bus Stop” and relevant facilities to the elderly centres and care homes for the elderly to create a pleasant living environment. The donation can also help staff members of the elderly centres deliver training to patients with dementia and ease wandering problems.
In addition, the smartphone application, App1933, has both Boarding and Alighting Reminder functions. Carers can preset reminders for boarding and alighting on the elder’s phone, after which the application will send out push notifications accordingly to remind them of the boarding time and the approaching alighting stop for a more reassuring journey.
The fleets of KMB and LWB are equipped with various accessible facilities, including super-low floor, non-slip flooring, priority seats, seatbelts, a ramp and a wheelchair space. Some compartments are designed to provide two wheelchair parking spaces. Inside the compartment, we have the Bus Stop Indicator and Bus Stop Announcement System to remind passengers of bus stop information by voice-over and text.
Passengers may call the KMB Customer Service Hotline on 2745-4466, Long Win Customer Service Hotline on 2261-2791, or visit KMB and LWB website or App1933 for more details.
