From 12 Dec to 14 Dec, The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (“KMB”) will deploy a mobile vehicle to different districts in the New Territories and Kowloon for recruiting talents. A convenient one-stop employment service will be provided. A stable working environment and attractive benefits packages are offered to those hired. In addition, comprehensive vocational training is provided to bus captains, and many customer service positions adopted a five-day work week and non-shift based, which are different from other similar positions in the job market.

Mobile vehicle reaching out to crowded communities

The mobile vehicle is painted red allowing job seekers to easily identify the vehicle. The vehicle will be stationed in crowded areas such as Sha Tin, Tai Po, Tuen Mun, Sham Shui Po and Mong Kok. Therefore, job seekers do not have to visit KMB’s depots for application. While applicants for bus captains are required to bring a Hong Kong Identity Card, self-portrait and driving license, other applicants should bring a proof of qualifications and employment. There will be a simple and direct one-stop employment service with on-site interviews provided. Driving tests are available for bus captain applicants.

A wide range of positions hired

Job vacancies include frontline positions such as Bus Captains, Technical Workers, Terminus Supervisors, Inspectors and Bus Stop Wardens, and customer service positions such as Shop Assistants, Customer Service Assistants, and Customer Hotline Representatives. Other than full-time Bus Captains, KMB offers half-time and hourly-rated options in terms of working hours and modes meeting different needs. KMB embraces meritocracy and welcomes Hong Kong residents across all sectors and from different ethnicities to join and serve in various positions.

Both half-time and full-time employees of KMB and Long Win Bus are entitled to enjoy all-rounded benefit packages, including paid lunch and rest hours, a free bus pass, two or more dependent bus passes that can be used on bus routes operated by four franchised bus companies (two passes for immediate family members are available after working for at least one month; unlimited passes for children aged 25 who are full-time students after working for at least one year), medical insurance covering clinic and hospital treatments, year-end double pay, and scholarship for their children. An annual salary increment is also available for full-time bus captains fulfilling the yearly appraisal.

KMB has also customised a training module for bus captains. Not only have established the KMB Academy to provide professional training to bus captains and maintenance staff, but also introduced the GreenRoad System to enhance bus captains’ green driving and safety awareness as well as to provide targeted vocational driving training.
