KMB’s new Route 69 coming soon connecting Tin Shui Wai and Yuen Long Improving public transport for United Court and interchange concessions provided
The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (“KMB”) announces that a new bus Route 69, travelling between Yuen Long (Tak Yip Street) and Tin Shui Wai Town Centre, will be put into service on 18 December (Sunday). It provides an all-day direct service as well as a connection to KMB’s comprehensive interchange scheme for Yuen Long United Court and Tin Shui Wai North residents. Passengers of Route 69 can interchange on multiple KMB routes at Yuen Long Plaza to travel to others districts with a discount offered.
Route 69 provides all-day services via Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long
Transport ancillary facilities are one of the key parts of a satisfactory living environment. KMB is devoted to allocating resources to provide bus services to the residents in transitional residential areas and newly built residential estates. Besides the point-to-point service, passengers can take advantage of KMB's vast interchange network to reach every corner of Hong Kong and enjoy convenient, comfortable and safe bus services.
Route 69 [Yuen Long (Tak Yip Street) ⇋ Tin Shui Wai Town Centre] will be put into service on 18 December. It provides an all-day service, which is convenient for residents of Yuen Long Tung Tau, United Court, Twin Regency, One Regent Place to travel between Yuen Long city centre and Northern Tin Shui Wai. Route 69 also passes through multiple housing estates in Tin Shui Wai, including Tin Yan Estate, Tin Heng Estate, Wetland Seasons Park and Wetland Seasons Bay, before arriving Yuen Long city centre, giving the residents of Northern Tin Shui Wai a direct bus service going to Yuen Long.
KMB held a commencement ceremony for Route 69 at United Court today (15 December), LegCo member Lau Kwok Fan and some community officers were invited. Lau expressed his appreciation to KMB for providing a new bus route travelling between Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai to United Court residents. He said that Route 69 not only can provide convenience for residents traveling to Yuen Long town centre, but also can help their integration into the community. Lau also thanked KMB for offering various fare discounts, encouraging residents to travel and enjoy public transport services.
KMB Head of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs Department Kenny Kan said that KMB was actively expanding bus services for residents living in new residential areas to meet their travel needs. New Route 69 aims to provide convenience to the citizens in Northern Tin Shui Wai and near United Court in Yuen Long. Passengers can quickly travel to Yuen Long and interchange to other routes with discounted fares to other districts on Hong Kong Island, and in Kowloon and the New Territories. Kan said that KMB would continue to pay attention to the development of various districts, take care of the needs of old and new community residents, and play a role in connecting the community.
Ms Lau, a United Court resident, praised that Route 69 for providing one more commuting option to residents who work or study in Tin Shui Wai. She said that KMB’s Bus-Bus Interchange concession could relieve the fare burden of the public and facilitate people to travel to others districts with a discount.
Route 69 provides multiple interchange options
Moreover, passengers of Route 69 can interchange on multiple KMB routes at Yuen Long city centre to travel to others districts with a discount and enjoy a maximum $4.8 interchange discount. In other words, United Court residents or the catchment areas of the wetland can take Route 69 as a free shuttle bus to Yuen Long city centre if they interchange on designated KMB bus routes.
Interchange concession with green minibus Route 622
There is also a fare interchange discount for KMB Route 69 and green minibus Route 622 [Hung Shui Kiu (Hung Yuen Road) ⇋ Long Ping Station]. With the first leg taking Route 69 towards Tin Shui Wai and the second leg taking Route 622 towards Hung Shui Kiu or vice versa, adult Octopus card users and valid holders of a personalised Octopus card with student status can enjoy a $1.0 interchange discount.
Fare Saver kiosks to be installed in United Court and two private housing estates in Tin Shui Wai
Starting from 18 December (Sunday), three KMB Fare Saver kiosks will be ready at the United Court in Yuen Long, Wetland Seasons Park and Wetland Seasons Bay in Tin Shui Wai. Passengers could receive a $1 fare concession when they ride on KMB buses after tapping the Octopus card at the Fare Saver kiosk.
Passengers with Adult or Student Octopus cards can receive a $1 fare concession when they ride on KMB buses after tapping the card at the Fare Saver within the same Business Day (starting at 4:45:00 a.m. on any day and ending at 4:44:59 a.m. on the subsequent day). The discount applies to all KMB routes except Routes K12, K14, K17 and K18.
