Interchanging is so simple: All-new Mei Foo BBI put into service Western Harbour Tunnel BBI renovated

The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. (“KMB”) is pleased to announce that Mei Foo bus stops have been grouped and upgraded to Mei Foo Bus-bus Interchange (“BBI”), with a new introduction of the Interchange Concession Scheme to provide more convenient and value-for-money travel options for passengers from Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi. In addition, KMB has also renovated the Western Harbour Tunnel BBI with clear signage installed to facilitate passengers interchanging to and from the Hong Kong Island and West Kowloon Cultural District so that the concept of “Interchanging is so simple” is reached.

Mei Foo BBI: A new travel option for Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi

The all-new Mei Foo BBI includes Mei Foo Bus Terminus and Mei Foo Station bus stop with some 40 routes observing to offer a new interchange concession of $4.2. Passengers from Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi can enjoy the discount by making their way to Mei Foo BBI first and interchange to designated KMB routes for places in the city, providing more convenient and value-for-money travel options. To facilitate passengers locating the interchanging bus routes, KMB has assigned platform numbers to the bus stops of Mei Foo BBI – platforms in Mei Foo Station (Kwai Chung bound) are numbered as A1 to A4 and B1 to B4; platforms in Mei Foo Station (Cheung Sha Wan bound) are numbered as C1 to C3 and D1 to D2; platforms in Mei Foo Bus Terminus are numbered as T1 to T8.

For example, passengers departing for Kwun Tong from Lai King may take Routes 42 [Tsing Yi (Cheung Hong Estate) ⇋ Shun Lee], 45 [Kwai Chung (Lai Yiu Estate) ⇋ Kowloon City Ferry] or 46X [Hin Keng ⇋ Mei Foo] to Platforms C2, C3 or T8 in Mei Foo BBI, and interchange to Route 40 [Tsuen Wan (Belvedere Garden) ⇋ Laguna City] by walking to Platform C1. A $4.2 interchange discount will be offered for this journey. Tsuen Wan or Kwai Chung passengers may also take Route 40 and interchange to Routes 2A [Mei foo ⇋ Lok Wah] or 6D [Ngau Tau Kok ⇋ Mei Foo] at the BBI for Mong Kok, Shek Kip Mei or Kowloon City. A free second leg concession is offered for this combination.

Western Harbour Tunnel BBI: A step away from Hong Kong Island and West Kowloon Cultural District

The Western Harbour Tunnel BBI includes bus stops along Western Harbour Crossing (“WHC”) Toll Plaza, Nga Cheung Road and West Kowloon Cultural District. Interchange discounts are offered to passengers from WHC Routes to and from Hong Kong Island or Route 296D [Tseung Kwan O (Sheung Tak) ⇋ Kowloon Station] for a direct connection to M+ and Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District. KMB has already assigned platform numbers for bus stops in Western Harbour Tunnel BBI and recently updated signage in the bus stops to clearly show the destinations of each route and platform for passengers to locate the platforms easily.

For example, passengers going to Causeway Bay from Tsuen Wan West may take Route 934 [Tsuen Wan (Bayview Garden) ⇋ Wan Chai (Fleming Road)] to Platform A1 in Western Harbour Tunnel BBI and then walk to Platform A2 behind for a free interchange to Route 936 [Tsuen Wan (Shek Wai Kok) ⇋ Causeway Bay (Cotton Path)]. Passengers travelling to West Kowloon Cultural District may also enjoy a free interchange to Route 296D at Platform D1 to the West Kowloon Cultural District.

Passengers may also check the route information of Mei Foo and Western Harbour Tunnel BBIs in the KMB mobile app, App1933. Together with the “Nearby Routes” function, passengers can look for the estimated time of arrival of interchanging routes at the BBIs for easier journey planning.

KMB is also renovating other existing BBIs by stages and introducing more BBIs with clearer signage and platform numbers so that passengers can easily find their way to destinations, and fully utilise our extensive bus network to enjoy more valued and convenient options for a more flexible journey.
