KMB to recruit experienced bus captains Current salary taken as reference and all benefits are provided

It is expected that the Cross-border land logistics flow will boost and society will be back to normal in an orderly manner while the borders between the Mainland and Hong Kong are gradually reopening. The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. ("KMB") launched a new recruitment scheme, hoping to hire experienced bus captains who work for franchised bus companies. The starting salary point in KMB will be referred as their latest basic salary under the new scheme. They are also given a new join bonus of up to $10,000 and all benefits, including year-end double pay, incentives for outstanding driving performance and a workplace close to home.

Annual salary increment for full-time bus captains

An annual salary increment is also available for full-time bus captains fulfilling the yearly appraisal. This policy applies to experienced bus captains newly joined KMB.

Attractive benefit package and comprehensive vocational training for bus captains

Both half-time and full-time employees of KMB and Long Win Bus Company Limited are entitled to enjoy all-rounded benefit packages, including year-end double pay, paid meal break and rest hours, a free bus pass, two or more dependent bus passes that can be used on bus routes operated by four franchised bus companies, medical insurance covering clinic and hospital treatments, and scholarship for their children.

KMB has also established the KMB Academy to provide professional training to bus captains and maintenance staff, and introduced the GreenRoad System to enhance bus captains’ green driving and safety awareness as well as to provide targeted vocational driving training. There are monthly and annual GreenRoad Outstanding Awards presenting cash prizes up to $10,000 and certificates to commend bus captains’ green and safe driving achievements. More than 85% of bus captains received the awards.

Simon Yeung, Head of Human Resources Department, said that with the resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland, cross-border logistics industry and local transportation industry are expected to compete for talent, and a high rate of resignations are also expected in different industries in the post-CNY period. Therefore, KMB makes hay while the sun shines by launching a new recruitment scheme targeting experienced local bus captains. “Under the new scheme, we take those hired bus captains’ latest basic salary for reference as the starting salary point in KMB, which helps ease their concerns over salary cuts. Those hired are also entitled to enjoy all benefits, we believe that it is an attractive package for experienced bus captains who wish to work in the local transport sector,” he added.
